Fiat 500 speeding to market
Delivery of small cars to begin before most dealerships are ready
Alisa Priddle / The Detroit News

Soave said the first owners will be notified when their Prima Edizione is ready. "We will match them with their dealer and deliver to their home or a Chrysler location if they don't want to wait until their Fiat studio is ready," she said.

Chrysler will make special arrangements to ensure dealers have the necessary paperwork. "We will look at each dealer on a case-by-case basis," said spokesman Ralph Kisiel.

Thanks for the post Sam.
"Deliver to their home" -- interesting!
Fiat should learn from the company they are most enamored by - Apple. Under promise and over deliver. Fiat should have told us the Primas would be ready in April, then surprise us in March. Hope the Abarth delivery goes smooth next year.

Cool video... but it's not a Prima Edizione version.
Looks like a dealer demo car. Finished "studios" are supposed to have visiting demo cars this upcoming month.

Correct. Prima would have different shade red, stripe and I think black roof and side mirrors. Still cool to see a NEW Fiat roll off the truck to a US dealer.

Cracking idea, that. I'll just pop in on my lunch break and get the skinny.

Seriously though, with the dealer 2 hours away, my interest is not really 100% piqued.

The solution for me is probably to have the car delivered at Maxwell in Austin where I believe car will most likey be stationed anyway. Fiat is waiting for me to tell them where. But they just can't tell me when, yet. Not tight enough that I can make plans, anyway.

I was thinking that it would be nice to go down to the Philadelphia Auto show to see the new 500 in person.

Quess what? No Fiat display, no 500.
Philadelphia International Auto Show

Who the hell is running that company? Do they have a clue?

Great, Thanks for that. The Auto show site didn't have it listed.

Here's a picture of my brother's 500, he's now had it for close to a year, and he is very happy with it. I have driven it a few times and it is a very nice car

Recived this email a few days ago from FIAT:

Hi Fred.

Your FIAT 500 is moving down the line! With every bolt and every weld, its unique Prima Edizione character is starting to break through the surface. The Plant Manager sent me these photos, so I'm sharing them with you.

We're so excited that everything is coming together. The next stop is the paint shop, where it'll get a bold new personality. As soon as I learn more, I'll let you know.

Ciao,
Laura Soave

I have not seen one yet in the felsh. So, Henry, does it have a flat floor in the trunk, especially with rear seats down? Key for me is that my Golden Retriever has space in the back ...

Trunk looks flat and the seats fold flat but there is probably a step up between them.

Also that blog says Austin TX has gotten its test drive car.
