Fires

I see you guys are having more bad fires. Coming from a country that suffers the same types of fires my thought go out to everyone.
My wife's sister is pretty darn close to them at the moment so I hope everyone I know stays safe.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and brush fires are a part of living in Southern California. I would never live in a fire area because of what is going on right now. I have a number of friends who lost their homes to fires that were started many miles from their location and the older you are the more difficult it is to start over again. I guess you can offer support to victims of the fires.

fire info

Kuni can you or anyone else tell me if Porter Ranch could be in danger. I'm looking on google earth and the news is reporting a fire in Tujunga and Sylma. On the map that looks pretty close. Porter Ranch does not look very vegetated. Maybe more in the mountains behind and to the south. Not to be rude however I don't think my wife's sister would have a clue if she was in danger. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Fire Info

Thanks Neil.
Found another site as well.

We got in touch with the family last night. Also my friend here has a friend that lives around the corner from my sister in law in Porter Ranch (small world).
There about 10 Miles from the evacuation zone but everyone is so relaxed about it I found it hard to believe.
Over the years we have had fires here with many people dying. A fire can move 10 miles in no time if the conditions are rite.
Sister in law doesn't even have a evacuation kit ready.
Anyway they are getting updates and seem relaxed. Kids are happy the schools are closed.
Cheers.

The Porter Ranch is west of the Sylmar fire. The wind is blowing from the east to the west and could be a problem for any area until the fire is under control. There are numerous fires and some of them could be arson related or careless drivers throwing out cigarettes from their cars.

Try browsing the CAL FIRE web site. I don't know the address. They have a list of all active fires so there may be some info for you there.
