1996 900SE, replaced last year (after 10 virtually trouble-free years) by 2006 9-3. But I don't use saabnet.

Just bought an '03 9-3 Linear in November to replace my beloved Isabella (164S that met a sad demise) This is my first Saab, and I can't say that I dislike it, just lacks the passion that the 164 had. My sister owned an '86 900 turbo in the late 80's to mid 90's, and her first car was a 1966 96 (or maybe 93) two-stroke back in the late sixties. The 900 was pretty much trouble free until it hit the ten year/150,000 mile mark, and then it got too expensive to maintain and repair. She switched to Mazda, and hasn't looked back.

I haven't gone to saabnet, perhaps I will one of these days.

And, when the winter is over, I'll post a pic of it (now affectionately called Helga) in a clean state--instead of the usual salty/dirty patina it has in the winter time.

It was a contentious battle between my wife and I. The Saab was a compromise of sorts, She wanted a Jag X, or S type or Lincoln LS. I wanted another 164S. BTW, she now loves the Saab.

Right now I'm Alfaless, but I will probably have a GTV or Spider before buying another 164S.

My dad had a black '62 Giulietta in the sixties. I would LOVE one just like it. Alas, college is coming up for my daughter, so that will have to wait. I would like a duetto but only if I could get one at the right price--otherwise any chrome bumper spider would be nice!

Absolutely love it, but it takes a real long time to warm up to where you can drive it "con gusto". The noise the engine and exhaust make are intoxicating. One of these days, I am going to mount a video camera, and post the experience.

What do you think this is? The Alfa bb?
Seriously, anybody with 9-5 experiences, I'd like to hear. I'm thinking about a 2003-2005 wagon to replace my daily driver. The Aeros I've driven have been downright FAST, but wonder about the mpg?
i can only speak of the late 90's / early 2000 saabs - hopefully someone can give some info.

I have a '92 900S convertable that replaced my 91 Spider about two years ago. and I have never looked back! It is a great car, and 30mpg.

Just realized I have no pictures of it to post, I'll have to wait till the "liquid sunshine" stops coming from the sky to take some.

Grafic illustration as to why I switched!

Cruises at XXX mph with very little wind noise, dogs love the back seat, 6 way power seats, heated. 300 mile trips with no back ache. Sold the Spider, bought the Saab, AND put the balance into the (Alfa) race car!

Plus with Susan driving, I can sit on the spoiler and wave to the crowd

I had a 2000 9-5 Aero wagon with a 5-speed for a couple of years that I loved. I'm not one to care about mileage, but I recall it was good on long roadtrips (mid twenties), but probably less so around town, depending on how you drive it. I have heavy feet, and I went through front tires pretty quickly.
