What a ride!!!!

Went to the antique boat show at Lake Hartwell in Hartwell Ga. and my son and I rode on Miss America IX which was the first boat in the world to break and exceed 100 mph in 1931.

Holy crap!

I so love wooden boats! I had just googled the Miss America IX last week! It was during one of my internet-inspired ADD moments after I read somewhere there was a wooden boat with twin V12s!!

Thanks for the video. It actually gave me goosebumps.

Do they sell rides to pay for upkeep or did you know someone?

I've added it to my calender for next year!

I restored and maintain it for the owner. He takes it to several of the wooden boat shows around the country. I know hes taking it to lake chatuge in ga and the charlotte show in n.c. If your out on the dock at the right time he'll take you for a ride. Go to acbs.org and click on the event calender for a list of shows around the country.

And if you like v-12's search Miss America X. It has 4 packard v-12's in it.

Can't wipe the grin from my face. That's great! Used to own a weekend place near Tahoe. The yearly wooden boat show was always a highlight. The beauty, grace and power of some examples are truly pinnacles of design, manufacturing and artistic craftwork.

What a treat to be entrusted with this one!
