An excellent learning experience.
Don't mean to contradict you Gordon, but you may want to consider that the excellent learning experience is "make sure you have a solid pre-nup". Cheers, James

Fortunately, James, I did one better. Living Trust. Everything I had going in, I STILL had going out. She got the 25 years of Junk, I got the 25 years of "Junque" + my home and investment accounts. I did just fine... As a professional level alcoholic, she was not thinking clearly.
Ok...........

Bet there are a whole lot more than just two! Further my ex has moved on to husband #3 now, so they don't just "retire" but rather perfect technique for future unfortunates.
It can be frightening out there.......

I guess so...
In Alan's case, he did not know about the alcoholism, she hid it very well. Then one day, the woman's teenage daughter beat herself up with a hammer and called the police ... and said that Alan did it.

The responding officer was female. She looked over the girl's bruises and noted she had little round bruises all over her except none on her right hand or arm. She asked the girl if she forgot to change hands and she admitted that yes, she forgot to switch the hammer over to the other hand.

Pretty soon after that, they are no longer married but he had to write her a sizable check to make her go away.

I suspected there was going to be problems early on when at the wedding reception, his new wife got smashed drunk and offered to take me and another of Alan's friends to the alley way and get an early start on her wedding night. Which we declined. But OMG.

Yikes!!! I think we NEED to change subjects, before I get into my own tales of alcoholic, crazy, gambling and cheating ex-wives (yes - more than one).

Here's a photo of me getting ready to make a delivery a couple of weeks ago.

Much better Alex! I agree, the ex stories, both male and female are best remembered as "a learning experience" and shared with members of the same club.I'm asving your picture for friends next Christmas! Thanks.

It's a 2015 Ural Gear-Up, two-wheel drive Russian motorcycle... Awesome beast with a reverse gear and the sidecar wheel can be powered with a locked differential for going off-road!

Yup. It was stolen from the BMW design about 70 years ago! The new ones are quite reliable with EFI and Brembo brakes, etc. They even have both electric AND an emergency kick-starter!

Thanks for sharing Alex.
Sidecars seem to be making a comeback; especially for us old folks.
Best, James

Sad, but not terribly sad. There are worse things.

Downsizing from my home after 27 years.

Book, books, books.

Some are old friends.

Got rid of 1/3 of them at the church sale in the fall.

The irony is that there is virtually no bid for most books these days.

Not that the bid matters other than to have them go into wanting hands.

One of the younger guys in our Alfa group will take some, and just talked to one of the few remaining book stores. They will take quite a few.

The "treasures" like Pomeroy's "The Grand Prix Car" will be kept.

A quick calculation comes up with some 130 feet of book shelving.
