markgberry Done! I’m breaking it in now with some 30W oil and a bottle of ZDDP additive for new engine break in. No leaks or funny noises yet.

markgberry I think i’ve Read a couple of your posts regarding the restoration. That’s going to be a beautiful car. I may like to find a body someday and do another full restoration, then swap the parts out while cleaning, painting, and plating as I go; but I don’t want to take this car apart for several years and not have one to drive. It’s too much fun!

markgberry In! It slid right in with the back of the car jacked up to feet in the air. Great tip! Thanks to whoever mentioned that! I never noticed before how the engine doesn’t sit perpendicular to the cowl.

markgberry More Progress...slowly��. I had some down time waiting on a couple of gaskets so I sprayed the engine compartment again; I just didn’t like the color match after the first attempt. I received the gaskets and installed a few more bits installed today though! I should be able to marry the transmission to the engine tomorrow and maybe slide it in!

markgberry I made a blank off plate for the rear crankcase vent using the vent fitting as a template. I cut it out of 3/16” steel plate and sanded the mill scale off one side using 80 grit sandpaper flat on my vise’s anvil.

markgberry Coming together! The head went on smoothly. I put a bead of anerobic sealant on both the head and the block between the water jacket and the oil return holes at the rear of the engine as was suggested. The timing chain took a couple tries to get right but ended up dead on in the end. Waiting on a lower oil pan gasket and a speedi sleeve for the crank pully now.

markgberry Yep roll pins go in next Jim, thanks! Just wondering if I need to put sealant at the rear of the head gasket where the middle oil drain passage in the block is covered by the head gasket.
