I have had good experiences ordering parts from Centerline.
But not so good in getting them to answer questions for me. I recently used their "contact us" link to ask a question about a product. No response. I sent a follow up wondering what was going on. Nothing.
Is this common?
We try to answer all emails the same day they are received. Sometimes more complicated things, such as large quotes or advanced technical questions, may take slightly longer.
I don't know what happened specifically in this instance but you can send an email directly to info [at] centerlinealfa [dot] com and I will get it sorted out ASAP.
Joe, I didn't mean to imply you don't answer emails. I've had great experience with direct emails and phone responses. You might want to check out where the messages from your "Contact Us" function on the website end up, though.
With online forms, it's a fine line between getting bombarded with spam and not actually getting the emails from your customers. We do receive a large volume of customer emails through our web site form every day, but obviously not all are getting through.
I've been a customer of Centerline since the 80's and have always found they're worth a phone call. Every time I've had a problem or just a question I've found a knowledgeable soul at the other end of the call who is a "real" parts guy and not just a parts picker who can only read to you from a printed instruction sheet. Some shops are admittedly better at email communication than others. My advice is: do what works best.

I always phone in orders at Centerline Alfa because I want to know if they have stock. I have them put together large orders and have them email the results to me. I always place the order using a phone call. I have been buying Alfa parts since 1968 and in the old days was able to purchase parts directly from Alfa Romeo Inc. when they had a warehouse in El Segundo, CA.
I've never gotten a response when signing up for a part when it's out of stock. I always try and support vendors that I have some commonality with. But when another vendor has a better return policy and can sell a part for $39.89 and ship it to me from the UK and the total ends up being cheaper than buying here for $72.50 I have to go with the UK vendor. I've returned stuff to Centerline and it has to be exactly within their protocol otherwise tough luck. On the other had I bought the stainless windshield trim for a gasket windshield from Classic and kept it for over a year before I tried to use it. Turns out it was bent and would not fit. They promptly sent me another one. They took a set of pistons back because I changed my mind, sent me a return label and that was that. Call me a Capitalist.
