It came out really nice.

Thanks.

It looks like nothing will take it off on the inside of the spare tire.

I am not as particular with that rim as it is the spare.

lgbalfa Back in the trunk.

I will eventually get a new spare tire whenever I change all the tires.

The original 27 year old spare tire is still in excellent shape.

lgbalfa Before and after.

Could not get it 100% clean but much better.

lgbalfa Thanks Kevin for the advice.

Cleaned the spare tire (original Pirelli P4000) before I put it back.

lgbalfa Just bought a cheap $2 towel at the local discount store in town.

Thanks for the recommendation.

spiderserie4 I cut out a circle of thin foam and glued it to the underside of the trunk carpet exactly over the spare.

The face of these wheels is convex and contacts the hard underside of the carpet.

You know how you can roll most wheels along the ground, and they roll straight? well, these wheels always want to fall over on the face side and wreck the paint! The face sits proud of the tire...its really a poor, and very heavy design (apart from the look, which is fine and suits the car)
Be nice if somebody made replicas but shaved 10 lbs off each wheel

kevinl My 92 had a never used spare and there was a slight chafing on the rim from the rug, my current 93 is good with no chafing, I don’t have a moisture problem, the rug lets plenty of air through, the rugs are more like a loose cover than anything else.

I thought about that but the only issue that concerns me about putting a towel around the spare tire is the ventilation.

I would not want moisture / condensation being trapped under the towel since that could cause rust.

No issues with you though?

Thanks

Spare tire rim

How come every spare tire rim that I have seen, the face of it, the surface is not perfect?

This would even apply to spares tire rims that have never been mounted to the car.

Is it because of the way it is stored in the trunk?

I have never seen an immaculate spare tire rim.

Just wondering.

Thanks
