I currently have 2 Monti engines, and I am looking for plans for an engine stand.
Everyone here have seen Edgar Bortolini YouTube video. Does anyone have plans laying aroun for a similar stand? I am not able to contact him here on the forum, as I am a new user.
His stands seems nearly perfect for both testing and engine work.
My "tedesco" mechanic has the credits for that stand, built 40 years ago for the brazilian FNM JK and 2300 engines. Here is the youtube link: during the first Montreal engine fireup.
I did provide to Alfa2go a draft hand sketch and I believe he developed a nice quality CAD drawing. You can PM him here at the CP panel.
The stand is very stable and has a support for the gearbox and battery. You will be able to get full throat. Very easy and clean to work around the engine w/o the risk to damage the car paint.
It´s a nice DIY project. You can redesign it in a way you can disassembly and storage. Have fun.
Hey Ed, Don't think I got around to dimensioning any drawings but I could whip up a draft pretty quickly if needed. Did a quick 3D of it but got distracted as usual. Squirrel!
The stand I built wasn’t for running. It was for building, and allows the engine to be rotated 360 degrees for easy assembly of the bottom and top of the engine.
You sold your Monty Peterson? I known about your car for some time. I was considering copying the Alcantara dash board. But my “purist-advisors” are against it due to the good condition of the current dash. Maybe I do it on the next project. It looks great!
Solid “full Monty” thread by the way. Too much to read in one go, but I assume I fill find some answers in there somewhere for most issues.
How is/was the electronic injection? And issues worth mentioning? (I plan to experiment a bit on one of the engines)
You must be thinking of a different car than mine. I did not have an Alcantara dash or electronic injection.
I cannot see how the pictured stand allows the engine to be upside down. Among other things, the stand appears to be more narrow than the engine, so how could the heads and exhaust fit between the structure?
here is a picture of my stand stored outside with other hardware.
When the engine is fully assembled, with the front radiator, oil and water tank, gas, battery, instruments, cables, gearbox and exhaust and....running, you can not move it! No rotation!
I will post a picture as soon as my stand is done. Right now I have what I need to get started (except time!)
Going to work in a few weeks time (Brazil actually) So I can start my production already there. Free material
