I recently aquired a 95 164 LS. I am new to the ways of Alfa. I notice yesterday the speedometer will not return to 0 when the car is stopped. It is always indicating a speed of 10 MPH. Which is fairly good speed for a non-moving car.
Any suggestions?
Yes there is! I noticed it the other night. Then during the day. I don't drive with my reading glasses on so I missed the pin. Like I said I am new to the way of Alfa.
But after owning the auto LS for 10 years, the 5 speed LS for 3 (or 4?) and one other, with my now 9 year old son a 'car kid" , hes all over these LS's, just today he tells me (as I am under the wife Toyota Truck fixing a coolant leak) "hey Dad-- the car is at 10 miles per hour".. while its next to me in the driveway.
How ironic to see this post today and my main man telling me about it same day!!!
This is common Italian practice! My Moto Morini motorcycle is the same way, the pin sets the needle at 10MPH even when standing still. God it does look fast even when standing still lol!
another speedometer question... AR 164 1991 base model 5 speed... my speedo is way too slow... I have verified it with mile markers, and those radar things in neighborhoods and with my smart phone gps... shows me about 10 mph slower... any fixes for that or I just need to keep doing math in my head lol
I did a post a while back on how to adjust your speedometer. It can be done if you really want to get in there and mess with it. Basically, you remove the cluster from the hood, reinstall just the bare cluster in the car and use your iphone with a speedometer app to adjust your cluster from a small adjustment pot.

hey Thanks Chazzy song sung to my wife "If I were a tinkerer would you still love me? Would you have my Alfa" lol (apologizing to Johnny Cash for that one)
Be careful when tinkering with speedo that you do not put a fault code in air bag ECU. Do not apply power when you have any wire connectors disconnected from cluster. I don't remember which one of the 4 connecters the air bag light wire is in.
I used Chazzy's method several years ago; it worked.
