101/105 guy - yes, that makes more sense.
Will seek out a whole replacement, I think.
Thanks to you both.

New old stock shifters come up for sale on ebay.de or ebay.it at times.
I've bought 3 in the last few years.

|divotandtralee||I've heard of people fixing this inner part but haven't heard an explanation of how to do it. I don't think pulling the silent block is a manageable method without destroying something or even getting it extracted.|

When new, the pin is near the bottom of the slot.
Your pic shows us that the rubber insert inside the shaft has worn, letting the inner shaft move out too far.
This is what causes the notorious rattle on the highway.

Push-down gear knob locating pin
67 GTV 1600 lock-out gear knob spins. The locating pin is missing.
Has anyone successfully replaced a pin? What did it look like, and how did you do it?
It seem that, properly installed, the pin not only stops the top section rotating, but also restrict its upward movement by (perhaps) jamming at the bottom of the slot. I say this because at rest, the slot in the top section is sitting ABOVE the hole for the locating pin.
Thanks in advance.
