Yes if you going to drive your Alfa on the street things will happen. I was side swipe last year, I had someone flick a cigarette out there window and land on my passenger seat and burn a small hole in my new seat cover, and last Saturday morning I went in to work at 4:30am to get somethings done. I work in San Francisco and street park. When I came out a 9am to go home there was a large chip in the paint behind the passenger door. Thank goodness my Spider is not a trailer queen. Do get me wrong my spider is very clean but life happens. At the end of the day I really enjoy driving my Alfa ever chance I get!

|cjohnsontn||I do have stated value insurance thru my carrier, however I am going to claim this thru the at fault drivers insurance and if they fail to either fix or value the car appropriately then I will get my carrier involved. Fingers crossed.|

X2. Another BB'er had his Spider totaled and had stated value insurance, and I immediately bought the same for my '91 S4 after he posted his experience. However, at that time, Hagerty required an additional $200 since we only had one other daily driven car and might use the '91 for this if the other was in the shop for service. When we bought another VW last fall, Hagerty reduced the premium on the '91. The '76 Autocross Spider has vintage race insurance from a different company although I should probably investigate bundling the coverage with the '91.

Still tuning our twin Webers ..... Fired her up today and heard some very dis comforting clunking coming from the engine. Was a heavy clunk, not repetitive, just a few times. Pulled the valve cover, all looks good in there. Engine is freshly rebuilt, maybe 80 miles and has been running good with the exception of (what I can tell) some tuning.
Hoping nothing is awry in the lower end. Oil pressure is good. Will check compression tomorrow

A friend had a corner of his garage hit by a teen girl on her phone...missed his classic 67 Firebird by ONE inch ! ..She gets out , first thing she says :"I wasn't texting"...guess what she was doing...lol...texting...
she crossed the grassy median, missed the trees, missed two lanes of on coming traffic, over the curb , up the slope and mandgled the corner of his garage...she was really lucky...…

Bummer. My '91 was rear-ended several years ago. I immediately took it to a recommended body shop that advised me to verify the highest value of the car since any repair over 75% of the car value must be totaled per KY State law.
My damage was not a whole lot more than yours and the repair cost was $8500. When the insurance adjuster arrived, I had several "for sale" screen prints that showed the value of an S4 at over $15,000 and he accepted this.
