Erik In those days the factory workers just fitted what ever part was at hand when assemling the cars. Sometime someone found some odd parts in a corner, and they came into the next production car or cars, just like that.
Not very organised but quete interesting.

Andrew Both my 64 and 65 1600 TIs had the ball-type screw-in studs to attach with floor mats or carpets, though in both cases the originals were long gone.

alfavirusnz It`s funny what you see when you look at pictures again-in both that dash out of the car (Robert`s) and the photos of Sebastien`s the dash`s are painted a matt black, the one exception being the 1300. My car`s dash is the outside body colour of Graphite Grey (grigio grafito)-was this another difference between the really early cars and the slightly later Ti`s? Mine I know is original. Also my car has as part of the carpet set (charcoal) has big rubber mats where one would put feet-they have holes and corresponding studs in the floor to hold them in place-every picture of later cars or rebuilds show all carpet.-Has anyone got a similar arrangement in their very early floor change Ti 1600?

giulia_veloce hey Andrew.
Thanks for the reply and sorting out the steering wheel + dash questions.
Alfa did some different things when they assembled the cars for different countrys.Like putting a steering wheel on the LH side of the car etc.
Remember,im in Australia and we drive the cars from the Rh side,so things look different,if you know what I mean.
One thing I never asked anyone is= how you LH drive drivers put extractors on cars when you have a steering box in the way.
I know it can be done,just more difficult.

Andrew We didn't get all those variants in the US, alas, just 1600 TIs and 1600 Supers. When I said it was from the first series TI, I didn't mean it had to be a 62 itself, only that that's when the series started. I have a 64 column shift TI with this wheel, and a 65 floor shift TI, both Euro market cars brought into the US later.

alfavirusnz Yes I`ve just been going through my old brochures, including a German market one, and a book of road tests of Giulias. Got quite a library, and I buy old Alfa brochures & handbooks.- The RHD market was different and I am correct regarding that RHD (Australian version, which at that stage basically the UK market version) in that the wheel is off a 1600 Ti. You are right though Sebastien regarding the LHD markets.
A couple of other things I learnt in going through the brochures was that there was a very basic 1300 Giulia below the 1300 Ti, and there was an all black version of that "futuristic" steering wheel.
One difference I have noticed between Giulia Veloce`s pic and my steering wheel is that his rim is fatter, almost as if it is padded and black vinyl covered whereas mine has a shiny hard black plastic rim. did they change them in detail sometime in the production life. My car according to Alfa Storico was manufactured early 1965 for the UK market.

Giulia Bianca Sebastien is right in this, at least for the European market.
The "old " steering wheel came in 3 colors, black as shown, white with black, and black with white

/...again it was the cheaper 1300`s that got the black plastic steering wheel (and slightly more basic interior)

Sorry again to have to say that it is not true.
The 1300 were also fitted with the futurisic steering wheel.
It is not a matter of 1300/1600, only model year is involved

Then, still early dashboard for the 1300, but 3 spoke steering wheel ('66), like the 1600

The steering wheel was only fitted to the 1600`s, the 1300`s getting a cheaper three spoke black plastic steering wheel. `62-64 column change standard. `64-65 floor change became an option (with bucket as against bench front seat) and through to `66 I think column change was offered as an option. It didn`t matter whether floor or column gearchange that steering wheel came with a Ti 1600. Super 1600`s came with the more sporting steering wheel as standard, again it was the cheaper 1300`s that got the black plastic steering wheel (and slightly more basic interior)

rogerspeed That steering wheel could be both a 1300 or 1600 105 Sedan. It would be correct with the strip style speedometer pictured.

I possibly thought the steering wheel was about 1963.
Supers didnt arrive in Australia till late 1963- early 1964.
Did the steering wheel come of a 1300 with a strip style speedo?
Any information appreciated.

I'm afraid it's not true

The 3 spoke aluminium steering wheel from the super was a custom (but very popular in the era) fitting.

Later original steering wheel on th 'Ti' was 3 spokeand plastic covered, with chrome on the spoke for horn buttons It was fitted on both 1300 and 1600 Ti's and was the original steering wheel of the early GT 1300 Junior coupés.
