Yes unlike some owners of other classic marques that we own people with Alfas usually have a wider appreciation of cars in general and are nowhere near as narrow minded. Those old Lancias (before Fiat took over) really are superb-beautifully built, technically interesting and drive well. Lancia was the first with many things and unlike Alfa their successive cars were revolutionary rather than evolutionary. This 2c is my 3rd pre Fiat Lancia-wish I`d kept my other two.

You're probably right about Timaru, I know he picked a few up down that way. I bumped into him at the Ellerslie Concourse last week and forgot to ask about the origin of the rest of his collection. There was another Zagato there and I asked if he knew of it. That's when he told me it used to be his and he'd brought 4 here and sold that one after being pestered to sell it for years. I'm sure he had told me all this when we were at his place a couple of years ago, only my chin was on the floor, and I wasn't listening too well. Sensory over load.

Anyway, hope you're all well down in Christchurch, watching the news just now at the devastation of today. All the best from up here in Auckland.

Thanks Rik. It was certainly a REAL VIOLENT shake -more violent it seemed than the 7.1 Sept last. I`ve just been in the garage securing free standing parts shelving to the wall with the trusty hammer drill and rawl plugs. CBD where our office and factory is on the edge of is trashed-there is billions of $`s damage. Where I live on the NW edge of the city (semi rural) you would not know there has been an earthquake-just a few things on the floor but no building or road damage. I am hoping tomorrow to get to my lockup where my GT Junior and my Giulia Ti to check nothing has fallen on them.

Yeah I read that, had to have a wee laugh.

Not really sure why people do the whole QA argument. Sort it out with a phone call, if you don't like what you hear, walk away.

Slim pickings for the armchair dreamers on TM just now though.

Yep, I saw on TV last night that Turners are planning double the number of prestige -end repo auctions [four] - lots of higher-Italians going cheep cheep - this Saturday. I'm tempted to pop along and see how much they go for.

But agree Rik, not a lot out there. I pick up my new 75TS off PhilMac next weekend...cannot wait

Hi Rik

It was Richard Doig's car. He put a lot of work into the engine and it looks like Stan has done the same to the gearbox. IIRC it was sold by Richard with a nice set of Ronals on it which have been replaced with 156 wheels. From someone who has seen it in the the flesh the paint is in need of attention [just like mine is ].

But looks a good buy for under 2k if the rust is under control.

Aaron

Here is the old thread when Richard sold it

Rust!! Alfas don't rust!! They merely age (dis)gracefully!!

I see it's gone though, make a great track car for someone.

There's the 007 GTV6 popped up for $12k though. If it were a bit closer to home I'd be keen to go have a look. Cracking looking car and I remember it when it last came up for sale a couple of years ago. A lot of money been spent on it over the years.

A bit pricey though... (better be careful what I say here, don't want to incur the wrath of Richard again )

Yes looks nice doesn't it, quite butch with those wheels. As of tonight it didn't look like anyone had any serious interest in it. From memory the previous owner was asking about the same money when he sold it two years ago.

Do you guys know by any chance who the bidders are on this 75

Alfa romeo 75 1987 | Trade Me

I was hoping to find a way of contacting them and seeing if they have an interest in this,

http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/new-...tml#post841252 ,

haven't really used it in the last year , not quite as tidy maybe and a few things to do , but is the 3.0 and a better colour i think myself ...

It's getting harder to get info and ph numbers off TM

I'd suspect that the highest bidder would be an AROCNZ member wouldn't they - if they were serious about a 2.5 75 for that type of money/at those kms etc... Tessa Rogers of Wellington?

BTW do you know where/to whom that 75 with a 24v 3l engine that was on TradeMe a few months back was sold to?

1975 GTV on TradeMe

This is an interesting GTV on TradeMe:
Alfa romeo Alfetta GT 1975 | Trade Me

The car is listed as a pre-facelifted i.e. chrome bumpered 1975 GTV [which the plate supports at least on CarJam] but looks to me like a facelifted i.e. plastic bumpered GTV. Speedo is in kms and miles if that means anything? And with electric windows/speedo in front of steering wheel etc.. Interesting colour too!!!

Does anyone on here know anything about this car?

Aaron
