Once again a disappointing day qualifying for my RedTeam...Mercedes locks-up the front row! Bottas P1.
Vettel=P3 & Leclerc crashed-out in Q2 but managed a P10 anyway. Both 'Alfas' made it thru to Q3!
Both Mercedes 'sand-bagged' their way to win qualifying & P1 P2...you'd think all the other teams would
have figured that out by now(?).

Regards

Maybe Leclerc can show some passing skills. Hopefully P4 if he can get past Verstappen.

@iachella:

Hopefully Leclerc's pit-crew can repair the damaged Ferrari so Leclerc, at least, have a chance to get into the 'battle'! Vettel's chances are: who knows? He IS starting P3!

I'd like to see Leclerc pass his way up to P5 or P4, then a safety car to bunch them up, then dispatch a few more for a podium or a victory. Wishful thinking, but it's plausible.

I'd like to see Giovinazzi improve this season. He hasn't shown much yet. Good for him to out qualify Raikkonen.

Yeah, I’m getting a little tired of Toto singin’ the blues before Q1 and then his guys go out and blow everyone else off the track. This season is shaping up rather predictably.

In England you drive on the left. In New England you drive on what’s left.

Blues being 1.5 seconds back in P3

Who said 'sandbagging"?

Toto can go

“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough”
Oo--V--oO There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Mental Illness".

Thumbs down

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse it did! My RedTeam eats another one.....if only 'practice' was
the race we'd be in good shape. Ferrari gets its' fans all pumped-up & deflates us when qualifying is finalized! Dreadful.

Regards

ps-BTW, I said "sand-bagging"

I don't know what happened to Leclerc's soft tires. He was doing so well passing all the way up to P4. Yes, they pitted him late, as the commentators were saying, but that doesn't explain why he didn't make up any time after getting on softs. If Vettel had his pace, he could have passed the Mercs.

IMHO the heat cycle and the VSC when Charles was on the entrance to the fast part of the course caught them out, Ferrari strategy leaves me bewildered,
...Seb is another story...

The older I get.. the faster I was....

The heat cycle of the softs are better than the mediums. It was said that if anything the VSC would benefit Leclerc.

I just read a post race interview where he said the team told him over the radio that it was impossible to catch Verstappen. So he just maintained his position.

The VSC was ..as Charles was entering the fastest part of the circuit ...so dropping to 40% or so hurt him more then Mercs ..and yes the softs do well except if the heat cycle is to the point they cool, then they tend to cure and are a bit more difficult to bring back into "the window"... either way the Scuderia programming is bewildering..

The older I get.. the faster I was....

Modern method to determine fastest race driver

Equal opportunity championship awards for F1 (not to be confused with participation trophys)

WDC = World Drivers Championship
WCC = World Constructors Championship
WTC = World Tire-management Championship
WBC = World Brake-management Championship
WFC = World Fuel-management Championship
WH-eC = World Hybrid-energy managment Championship
FBD = Fastest Bloody Driver (no longer a category)

WTC + WBC + WFC + Wh-eC > FBD
