Oh Art do you think I'll drive down with a straight pipe on my car?
I'll get stopped from every cop I pass by.
Takes 10 minutes to convert 4 nuts and bolts, that's it.
BUT it sounds awesome with the straight pipe, and I believe the carbs are much louder than the straight pipe.
My buddy Jeff is going to prep the car for me, after he finishes The Pumpkin.
Do they have leaded racing gas on site? That would be awesome!
Me setup!

LOL - you drive Alfas, so how would I know how crazy loco you might be... ?

But that's great! Then you have the perfect setup - easy on and easy off!

Fuel has not been a problem, here is how it works:
- There is no fuel at the track.
- I bring an extra 5gal jug of fuel, I'm just that kind of guy. I never needed it, but still bring it in case others need some.
- The last two exits coming to the track down Interstate 88 have Ethanol Free gas, about 10 miles before you reach the track:
Exit 19: I usually stop at Exit 19 for Worcester, NY and fill up at the Stewart's station right off the exit. All Stewart's carry ethanol free gas.
Exit 18: This is where you get off anyway. It's a few extra miles into the town of Schenevus to fill up at the Mirabito/Citgo station, ethanol free, then backtrack and complete the drive over the hills to the NYST.

I have not run low driving a full 8am-5pm day, I even get home on the same tank. The way the schedule works between Group Sessions and my own stamina, I get just about 3 hours cumulative time on-track.

Registration is still open, $250 for a full day!

Cool! It's up on a wooded hill above Harpersfield / Jefferson, NY. If you are anywhere close enough to try it, it's a great track in virtually any vehicle - I think they are predominantly a motorcycle course.

Anyway - we had a spectacular day of tracking despite the threatening forecast. 4-5 showers passed over, but lasted only a few minutes each, the sun came out between puffy clouds and it didn't stop anyone from enjoying the day.

The forecast probably kept some members away, so the field was nice and small, only about 24 cars participated.. they sent us out in groups. Perfect and ample space on the track. My brother was a big hit in his bone stock, unrestored 1968 Plymouth Road Runner. 34-35psi in street radials and a 4spd w/a 4bbl 383cid Wedge engine. He had a blast and did well power sliding it through The Line..

I ran three practice sessions, found some improvements and ran 2 hard sessions and got my best times of the day with a smartphone track timer. I didn't do as well during the official Time Trials, but that's OK. After lunch a bunch of us got together and traded cars, so I got to drive an MG Midget and an '07 BMW M6. We coached each other's lines and had a good time.

Here is a video I edited and uploaded from June 23rd at NYST.. It's focused on my brother's '68 Road Runner, but there is a little GTV6 in there too...

NYST has another track date coming up, all day Friday Sept. 8th... "Full Throttle Friday".

$250 for 8 hours: Tech inspection at 7:30, driver's meeting at 8:30, track opens up at 9am and we run until 5pm. Lunch break from 12 to 1pm.

I think you need to buy an annual membership to participate. Minimum membership level is $50. So this would be a $300 total for several hours on the track.

Here is a video from a prior Full Throttle Friday:

October 7th, 2017 - Saturday Columbus Day weekend.

At the NYST, 396 Zimmerman Road, Harpersfield, NY 12093.

Last track day of the season - Cars and Motorcycles in 20 minute sessions. Otherwise Same setup and costs as the Sept 8th date above.

We had a blast in the rain at my second NYST track day this season on Friday Sept 8th, sponsored by AZP Install who attracted a whole lotta Subaru, Lexus, Ford, Nissan, VW, Honda tuners up from Metro NY and NJ.

A nearly stock 1991 NA Porsche 944 and I demonstrated you don't need HP to beat someone around the track. Took a full 360 spin out of Turn 2 in the wet, but stayed on the track and didn't flat spot the tires. Whew. The track dried out and I set a new personal best lap time.

I'll be there Oct 7 if the forecast is decent.

'82 GTV6 vs '86 Porsche 944

Here is a fun clip from the last session on the Sept 8 track day. I matched up really well with a Porsche 944 driver and we followed each other around the track. Closely matched performance in both cars and driver's skill made it especially fun trying to pull away from one another, but really we couldn't..

The 2018 track season is upon us! A few clubs are hosting track days at NYST. There are Friday, Saturday and Sunday dates open to anyone... Three ways of signing up...

1. - AZP Installs charges $250 for their Friday events. Currently scheduled for May 11, July 27 and September 7th.
You can use a $25 discount code "earlyreg" until 2 weeks before the event.
Dates & Registration - AZP Track Events

2. - NECC Motosports has reserved June 29th, they are also charging $250. Instructors available upon request.
NECC Event Registration - Open

Each of the above clubs has FB pages you can check out, and their events are friendly, safe and well-run. Tech inspections start at 7am. Cars on track at 9am, noon lunch break, then cars off track at 5pm. That's a full day!

3. - With an annual membership of $50, you can sign up for any Saturday or Sunday track days on the NYST calendar labeled "CAR". For $260/each, these are days with alternating 20minute car and motorcycle sessions hosted by NYST. Scroll through the dates here:
Upcoming Events | Events | NYST

Disclaimer; I have no affiliation with NYST, it's just been such a blast for an amateur like myself with a street Alfa, that I want to share this....

...and I've yet to see another Alfa there.

Cheers,
- Art

Hi Art, Just stumbled onto this thread and watched your
2016 track day, fantastic. Really enjoyed the ride. Can't wait to get my Alfa on a track. Not sure when that will be, resto is going on forever and it is a race to complete before I get too old to drive! Thanks for the experience.
