    Hi Jay,
I see you had an edit on my wanted post for a throttle cable replacement. Did I write or do something incorrectly?

He'll also need the torque # and recommended type of washer on the inside of the manifold, holding the mounts, but I don't recall what they were and I can't find the post.

Hi, I am looking at a 1958 Sprint Coupe being sold by Symbolic Motors in San Diego. I am contacting you to see if you or someone you can recommend would be able to perform a competent PPI on the car since I live in NY and will have to buy the car sight unseen if I go for it. The listing on their website makes it look really excellent, including underside photos -- you can start by going there: 1958 Sprint Coupe for Sale

Thank you Jay! I keep finding more stuff and the guy I was going to use is good but doesn't have an in-house welder and is unfamiliar with Alfas. So your reference is going to be put to good use! I am indeed a bike nut but the bad news is I'm having a lot of neck and back troubles that are slowing me down. Regardless meeting another bike guy and trading old stories will be good. Thank you again for the reference!

    Jay:

With the welding that is going to be needed on my car I am considering looking for someone to do that before I take the car to the paint shop. The paint guy I am planning to use doesn't have a full time metalsmith on site but he has a guy who comes in when needed. I haven't met him but I am thinking he likely doesn't have Alfa experience. So I either go to a full service shop that does it all, which I'm thinking is going to be even more expensive, or I find a metal specialist. Might you have some recommendations here in OC or Inland Empire or LA if I have to go that far? Thank you very much Jay!

Alfajay: Thanks for the advice. Being in Rochester Minnesota I called around and found it a challenge to find someone locally to change out a head gasket. A few mechanics are willing to take it on as a winter project. I might try your suggestion first.

Thanks Jay (re-exhaust). I don't want to derail the thread anymore than I have. When I replaced my old ANSA exhaust with the stock system (from the connection with the header all the way back) I had (have) a real problem with the front hangar (off the transmission)--as if the front section of the exhaust wants to hang lower than is possible, and this gets even worse for the rear section. I'll try your suggestion of readjusting the connection between front and rear sections.

    Hi Jay,

I hope you are well. I'm stuck on an electrical issue with my 67gtv and thought you'd be the best person to talk to for advice.

    Can I call you sometime?
    Thanks,
    Richard
