Hi Lone Star club, we have been invited to join the Italian Car Club of the Southwest on a Road Trip -- Get your Italian stallion out of the garage for some food, fun and a nice drive before it gets hot.
We will be driving to Tara Vineyard & Winery near Athens, Texas on Saturday, May 21st for a lunch and a tour of the vineyard and winery. Tara Winery
Participants are to meet at 10:30 am at Starbucks at 1645 North Town East Boulevard in Mesquite.
We will have maps and driving directions to the winery for everyone in advance. We will depart at 11:00 am sharp. It takes a little over an hour to get there and that will put us there at 12:10 or so. The route is 98% highway driving with a small amount along a paved county road.
We have made tentative reservations for dining on their patio at 12:30. That will give us time to straggle in, stretch legs and sit down for a leisurely lunch. We need a head count by May 18th so they can prepare for us.
They have some salads and lighter fare from $10 to $12, and burgers that range from $15 to $18. The burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches include fries, salad or soup. They have other options including pastas plus entrees and steaks.
Winery Tour: they offer a tour of the winery at 2:30 and it takes between 30 to 45 minutes depending upon how many people are in the group and how talkative the guide is that day. The tour costs $12 per person but it includes tastings from the winery tanks.
The ICCSW will have a brief club meeting after lunch. The winery tour is optional. They have a tasting room and will sell you a bottle of wine to take home and those who do not want to take the tour and leave after lunch. Let me know if you are coming and I will put you down for the trip.
