Exclamation ID plates

so, who has an opinion? i have just been offered, and have an option to buy, a giulietta ss which is very very good. it is complete with all sorts of history (almost from when it was supplied new) which includes bills, letters, general info (the file is about 2" thick!) BUT someone somewhere has removed/failed to replace the 2 ID plates under the bonnet. all the numbers on the registration docs (number plates have been changed 3 times as people put on cherished numbers and then took them off again) are constant throughout its life. number on bulkhead is as number on docs, engine number is as on docs - BUT THE PLATES ARE MISSING. what do you think: a) do i buy b)do i buy 'copy' plates and put them on or c) would you contact factory register to check further?

The number on the bulkhead is the one that counts and if it matches the title you should be fine. Yes , you should contact Alfa factory archives if for nothing else to confirm the VIN and original options, colors etc. If you remove the door panel on the drivers side, just below the window there should be another number which is the Bertone body number and it should be a few numbers higher than the last three digits on the bulkhead. Be sure and check out Giuliettas.com and the Veloceregister.net
