Alfa Fall Tour, Saturday, Oct 27, 2012

Put it on your calendar....Here is the message as I have received it....

Dear KARS Members and Friends,

OVAROC has planned the Fall Tour for Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Midway and Frankfort, KY, with lunch at Wallace Station, a unique bistro that’s been featured on “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives”. Dave Jarman is planning a drive on some country roads with stops at great local shops like Rebecca Ruth’s Candies for some homemade chocolates.

I’ll send more information with the time, meeting place and directions once I receive it.

Hope you’ll be able to attend.

Marsha Hicks
KARS Secretary

AND the latest communication......

Don't despair Bluegrass Alfisti -- there's still time and nice weather left this year for one more good outing in your Alfa!

On Saturday, October 27, we have fellow Alfisti from both the Louisville and Greater Cincinnati areas converging at Wallace Station, on Old Frankfort Pike near Midway. This is our traditional Fall Tour, where we share food, drink and Alfa stories (both real and imagined) with friends from the Ohio Valley and KARS chapters of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club.

Wallace Station (link: Deli - Bakery - Catering ) is a great little country spot for sandwiches, deserts, salads and sides that has been featured on the TV show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". Let's gather there at 1:00 on Saturday, October 27, for lunch. They are located at 3854 Old Frankfort Pike, KY 1681, in neighboring Woodford County. Parking is described as adequate, and we can enjoy a relaxed lunch.

If you'd like to consider some scenic roads on your way in, I gladly suggest the following:

From Louisville-- exit I-64 at the Frankfort US 60 exit, bear right off the ramp, and turn left past the stoplight onto Old Frankfort Pike (KY 1681). It will take you right to Wallace Station, just past the crossroads at US 62.

From Cincinnati-- exit I-75 at the Georgetown exit 126, bear right off the ramp to the intersection of US 460. Turn right onto US 460 proceeding west through Georgetown. Follow US 460 west out of town, and turn left onto US 62 (Payne's Mill Road). Follow US 62 south to US 421, turning right onto 421. Nearing Midway, turn left onto US 62 again at the expressway overpass. Follow US 62 through Midway to the crossroads with KY 1681 (Old Frankfort Pike). Turn left onto KY 1681, and follow a short distance to Wallace Station.

If there are any chocolate fans among you, Rebecca Ruth's Chocolates is located not far away on US 60, outside of Frankfort. This little shop has all kinds of delectable sweets, maybe a nice souvenier of the Fall Tour, that might (or might not) last until you arrived back home again.

Mark a note on your calendar now for Saturday, October 27, and we hope to see you and your Alfa very soon! Take care.

Dave Jarman
Bluegrass Alfisti

Best Regards,
John M

I check in from time to time. I have been running with Gregger some in Louisville. Went to the concours....last time it will be in Louisville so I heard. And their Cas and Coffee at Captains Quarters.....2nd Sat of month. Also went to Lexington Cars and Coffee at the Clarion Hotel (old Holiday Inn at Newtown and I 75).....on the first Saturday of the month. Tom Jones was there in his red Daytona Spider.

The Ferrari is looking good. I think I want to tear that engine apart and make a beast as funds allow. The 78 Spider spit a tie rod end apart....it came apart at the ball and eyelet...leaving the threaded end and the nutted end attached to the steering cross bar and steering box respectively. I need to get that fixed. The cross bar just hit the ground in the driveway and the wheels turned opposite of each other. Would have been a real mess at speed.

I will see you at the drive next week!

Best Regards,
John M

Is this gathering open to other non-Kentucky Alfa drivers from Northwestern Ohio?
