Montreal R12 recharging mystery/ignorance
I need to recharge my Montreal with R12 (not interested in converting and have the refrigerant) but am stumped by my system's apparent lack of a high-side manifold port. It's an expansion valve type system so I expected to find a service valve with port on the high side of the compressor, and in fact the AC parts books describes part 105.65.10.005 as a service valve, but the corresponding part on my car, and the drawing in the parts book, shows no service port nor is there the expected three-position service valve (see attached pics). The part that is there has a 1" female port to the compressor, a 3/4" flare port for the hose, and a 7/16 flare port for the high-to-low side bypass tube, but not service port nor a valve stem.
Even so, the Air Conditioning System manual shows and discusses the use of a traditional stem-type service valve. So this leads me to a bunch of questions but the most immediate and basic one is:
Have any of you Montreal owners (or 2000 or Alfetta owners with corresponding AC systems) recharged your AC systems? If so, where did you connect the high side of your manifold?
