Usually, you ned special clutch pulller apparatus for that. Its a pain, especially on an alfa.

never tried it, just put in new. Sooo tight, you said it. may have to remove dist car/rotor assbly, drier (set off to side), coolant reservoir, etc. Then, still it will be immpossible. prepare yourself for total removal/new/rebuild/reman comp.

nothing can be as bad as this POS ford taurus I changed the compressor on.

for the same work I think I could have swapped 2 alfa motors and did the AC too on each.
You can't even change the spark plugs with out disassembling the motor an the dam ford.

I have not seen the spider but my guess it is more or less the same as the one on the v6.
It has 2 flex hoses on it so just un bolt it and move it/rotate it pointing up so you can get at the clutch. There are a lot of vids on the web on changing clutches they are all same more or less of you get one with the same compressor which is most everything not ford/gm/chevy
everyone else use the Sanden and all have the same parts I think you have the sd508 but they are the same I think any ways I think the only real difference is the 2 types V belt and the flat belt type.

Be sure you have a good ground to comp (black wire from comp to mounting plate. If that is good without eng running disconnect clutch wire & use jumper to a good voltage & see if it will pull clutch in. Low voltage or amps will not let clutch work
