Potential new owner, saying hello and asking a question.

Hello all. My name is Pete and I will potentially be looking at/possibly buying my first Alfa this coming weekend. Found a 91 164L with a known history at the right price, have done my homework and had all my questions answered apart from one that is an uncommon problem that I face.

Does anyone happen to know if they are spacious enough to accommodate a 6'7" 220lb human such as myself? Current owner is 6'1" and has plenty of room, but I'm an abnormal one for sure lol. A friend who owns another Type 4 car (Saab 9000) assures me that they are more than accommodating, but doesn't know if there are any major differences between the two interiors.

Any info or experiences are greatly appreciated!

I guess I should mention the car is about 9 hours away from me so obviously just going and making sure I fit isn't the simplest thing lol

Welcome on board! We had a 164 for seven years as a daily driver, but I'm just right at 6 feet, so it's hard for me to stand in your shoes!
Honestly though, I never felt cramped, but I am not so sure you'll be comfortable. Maybe some taller 164 owners can chime in here.

Haha, I'm only *just* what you would call 'comfortable' in my big DD (Pontiac G8). I'm willing to be a little cramped (I shoehorn myself into race cars at this frame lol) I am really just hoping to be able to operate the pedals and not have to stick my head out the sunroof to see ahead lol.

Hi there, I just went out to the 164, I'm 6'2", sitting in it how I like it I still have 2ish inches of seat travel remaining and I have about an inch and a half from head to headliner. I would say my seat back is not raked back too too far. If needed I could go get an inclinometer and measure seat rake. It would be handy to know where in the world you are as there may be a known 164 close to you for you to sit in.

Cheers,

Carson, 4 Alfa's, 9 Cars, 4 Motorcycles
