Any alfa techs in the greater Chicago area?
Seems that the east and west cost are covered and the midwest is less fortunate.

Jim Sikking is a long-time Alfisti, and thoughtful, reliable, quality and reasonable Alfa mechanic in San Antonio. He's done great work for me on my Super and for other local, and not so local, Alfisti. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Cell is: (210) 827-4554. He is just north of the airport. Any guy that cleans my engine and bay area while the carbs are off, and finds starter problems (confirming something I forgot to mention) is my friend.

As I'm traveling across country this summer via Alfa I set up a google map of Alfa Repair shops and I figured I'd share it with the BB. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone else's plans or causing any problems with the listings. The google map page includes all the above shops and some others I found via AROC. I think it's safe to say a listing does not represent an endorsement from me or the AlfaBB. I'm happy to add to it if you send me a PM.

If any shop or person who knows of a shop not listed on the map I made wants to be listed, please post here so I can add it. I'll need an address for the google map.

If you travel up North, here's my favorite for Alfa service:
Garage Salvatore
196 Jacques-Cartier S
Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu
Quebec J3B 4J3
(450) 347-3656

Salvatore was trained in Milano and Maranello in the 60's, was an Alfa dealer between 1972 and 1987 and in 30 + years I've never had a bad comment on his work.

Thanks, this map need not be exclusively for the USA. Also, I personally will be driving back from California this summer (via giulia) through part of Canada.

Hi Fred: 2 more shops to add

Eurotec, located at 18 Okner Pky, Livingston, NJ 07039, tel. 973-992-2800, email: [email protected]. the Colosacco brothers (Mario, Paul and Joe) a second generation operation, used to be "my" guys until I switched to Joey LoRe, very knolwedgeable, very good at their craft, good guys.

Dominick's Euro Car Repair, 148 Ferris Avenue, White Plains, NY 10603, tel. 914-949-0103 - another second generation deal, also very good (at least by reputation, I've know Santos for years but never had the opportunity to use his shop but he is the go to guy for many of the Connecticut chapter AROC guys.

I recommend that both these shops be added.

I think that an online spreadsheet would better organize this information; the listings could be sorted by State or City. I'm wondering however if a rating system can be integrated so as to make the database even more useful...

Dominick's was featured in Hemmings' Sports & Exotic a year or so ago, and again in Automobile Mag a few months ago as part of a classic car feature (authored by Kitman), and I've dealt with them personally as a vendor; they're great people.

Ask for Tony. He is the shop owner and knows his Alfas. Some 50 years ago, he used to race a giulietta at age of 17!!

I beg to differ with Pathung - the spreadsheet format does work great for lists like the GTV6 registry (ya can sort by year, color, VIN...) but for finding a mechanic which is location driven, I think the map is the only way to go...

as to a rating system - it seems to me that these postings are only by customers and that mechanics are simply not posting their own info, and thus, there is what amounts to a rating system in that a mechanic only gets named to this if a customer thinks the shop is "worthy" of mention.
