Brake system question

I finally got to the bottom of why the brake light on my 72' GTV was staying on all the time. After troubleshooting the parking brake, etc., the problem is the two inch thin brass rods in the twin tank brake fluid reservoir are touching the electrical contacts on top of the tank. The system is topped up with brake fluid to the max line in both tanks and yet they still sink down and allows the washers on top to contact the points and the light stays on. They actually don't look they would "float" well anyway! Any ideas to correct? Do these things "wear out" somehow? I pulled the rods out to keep the brake light off for a short term solution. Thanks!

I would guess the floats have gotten heavy. Replacement reservoirs are available.

I believe the later one cap version will work, you just leave two of the wires disconnected.
