Where to buy the 1974 trunk battery tray and trim?
As I go through my new to me 1974 GTV, I am thinking about moving the battery back to the right side of the trunk (this was an A/C optioned car). The battery is currently in the trunk but on a non-OEM tray inboard of the inner fender well.
Can anyone recommend where to go to for the trunk mounted tray and trim cover?
I've never found any source for the parts for the original AC 'battery in the boot' set up. I would imagine that we would need to find someone who has the original parts and then get them professional copied - no small exercise. If you do have some success please do let me know - I would also like the original parts to complete my AC install.
Very interesting pictures! Can you give me some details about the wiering, is the ground wire connected below the battery base plate? Is the positive wire going through the inner sill? Where it goes through the Firewall?
As an owner of a ‘74 GTV and former owner of a ‘92 a/c Spider, I am guessing the later Bosch Spiders all had the same or very similar truck/boot a/c setups as the earlier ones, incl. the GTV, even though one was Pininfarina and the other was Bertone.
If you send me a message with your email address I'll send you the technical specs, manual and drawings for the AC installation. Originally the +ve cable went under the car all the way to the engine bay, but mine goes through the rear of the boot down the left hand side of the car under the carpet and through the firewall.
You're correct, the -ve just earths in the boot which doesnt seem to have given me any problems although I did need to add a second earth from the engine to the chassis in the engine bay
