Is a 1969 1750 GTV considered a "shallow arch " model

Hello,

I need to buy some rear inner arches and in the description the parts fit
"Inner arch for shallow arch cars 1968-77 "

Is my 1969 1750 GTV a shallow arch model?
What would a GT junior model be considered ? Shallow arch model ?

Thank you for any help. Sorry for this question that is probably very obvious to most here.

Hi there Maire,

Shallow arch cars are "low rear wheel arch" cars AFAIK... Your 1750 which is a 1969 1750 GTV should not be a "shallow i.e. Low Rear wheel arch car"....

The change in rear wheel arch design, hapened during 1967 (rather later in year than earlier) .

I'm happy to be corrected, if I'm wrong.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

Yes a 69 GTV is a shallow arch. With the GTj you would go by the year but best you understand first the difference.

Maire, So now you are confused as you have 2 differing answers based on the perceived definition of shallow. Who is the vendor you quoted "inner arch for shallow arch cars 68-77". Chances are he knows his years and arches. But do you have a 69 GTV or are you wondering if a shallow arch will fit a GTj??

Now I'm confused

Hi Ken,

I appears you have far more knowledge on this topic, than me. Can you explain us (me included) in simple words the differnce between shallow arch and "non-Shallow arch?"... I'm happy to learn more about this... I allways thought we have only have low arch and "high arch" cars... but Maire (the thread starter) speaks about shallow inner archs.... and I was refeering to the outer fender arch design...

Thanks for your help.

High (late) and low (early) are a clearer way to describe the 2 types of arches. The vender uses shallow for late, not sure why but the early would be deep I guess. Different points of reference.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for this... It's much more clear now... But you're right its a bit of a strange designation/denomination... I would rather stay with the High-Wheel arches termini (Later cars as from late '67) and low wheel arch cars...

Anyway thanks a lot for the clarification.

Hello

I suppose I should just contact the supplier. I’m honestly still not sure what I have.

Neither do we as you have not said what year and model you have. You mention both 69 GTV and GT junior. Maybe you could post a picture. Maybe you could take some measurements.

taller, higher = more room for wheel travel or increase width of tire right? how else would you describe it?

I'm just saying there are several different ways apparently used to describe the 2 types of arches used on the Bertone GT and if a newbee finds that confusing, small wonder. nothing wrong with your take on it.

Better to stay in the positive and to say: Of the Bertone GTs, all 1750 (and 2ltr, late 1300 GTj, all 1600 GTj) chassis are high arch; or shallow arch; or taller arch; or late arch.
