Black painted areas

Hi, does anyone know which areas in a 2000 GTV were painted black from the factory? I know for sure that the entire area behind the front grill is one of them.

As I recall that was the only area. I have owned my 74 since new and basing my info on that, it was a flat black, just kind of rapidly painted, no masked off areas, more or less fogged in. Just had my car restored and need to address that area as well, currently red.

Cars ruined my life! 😱

You might look at the archival production line pics in Patrick Dasse's GT book out recently. Great stuff.

Joseph,

I wouldn't be so sure about the black out areas ..... check this post (in particular my pic on the 2nd page from a brochure),

https://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/gt-...rill-area.html

Depends where the car came from I think.

Cheers,

Paul.

My `74 2000 GTV was never painted black behind the grille, nor is our `70 GT Junior,
or our `65 Giulia Ti.
I have colour sales brochures ( the last printed in 1974) and they feature cars with body colour behind the grille (the `74 brochure features a red coupe). They show body coloured wheel wells also.

I've found the same in Oz Richard..... all the coupes I've had never had 'black out' in the grille area (headlight buckets excepted).

My Robinia (ruby) coupe was paint behind the grille - no black to be seen.

Cheers,

Paul.
