GSGTV Wood Grain Dash

Hi all

Back after an extended absence and making some decisions to get this car back on the road. I've searched and searched and can't find a definitive answer to what finish to use on the dash. I'm down to a couple of 3M films that seem to fit the bill, they handle compound curves and are only .22mm thick. However the pattern still has me scratching my head. I have a reference photos scanned from a sales brochure so original but not sure about the colour render, and some "swatches" from 3M. Anyone want to wade in with a view on which (if any) is more right or wrong, please?

Thanks all for your help.

From the 4 original dashes I have, I can say that #1, 2 and 4 are closer than #3. I'm sure there was not 1 specific colour / grain used.

Bertelsbeck in Germany offers two different shades: dark and light. Can't comment on how close they are to original color though.

I'm going to the distributor in the next week or so to revisit this job. I'll report back once I see the samples.

GSGTV Wood Grain Dash

I have an original woodgrain glove box door from a 1967 GTV (it is cracked and I replaced it)...I would be happy to ship it to you for the cost of shipping alone if you want to try and match the dash color as closely as possible!

#1 would be my choice from you examples, and the light colored version available from Zara's link. Spqr65's has made a very nice offer and might be a good choice. I'm sure someone who has recently restored this style dash will chime in soon.

I will search for my glove box door and inform you of shipping costs once I find it. This is my tenth post and I should be able to PM you once I have the glove box door.

There is a photo of a NOS glove box lid shown on Pinterest which might be useful. I also have a NOS lid but I don't have any photos to show you. The original part number is 105.36.63.014.00 .

How about listing the 3M part numbers and names of the candidates and final selection.

I know that time is money, so....
How much would you charge to send a picture of the glove box door to the OP?
It surely would be well worth the cost!
