Air Cleaner Cross over hose For Giulia Spider Veloce

I am Finishing the restoration of a very special 1600 Spider Veloce. I am looking for the proper length air hose that fits between the Plenum and the air filter can. Something in the 10" to 11" range would work, the ones sold for 105 cars are 4" or 5" too long. Unfortunately they are all I can find and they really won't work, they are way too long. Anyone know of a source?
Thanks,
Bill Gillham

Dear 6alfas,
Boy I wish it was, those are easy, all the prime suspects carry the Giulietta version. The one I need is the hose that came on the model after, it fits on the '64 and '65 1600 Spider Veloce,

It is nearly the same tube that was used on a GTV, Giulia Super and Duetto, but at 11" is shorter by 4" or so. See picture. I'm not sure any one makes a reproduction since they only made 1091 cars that used it. (See attached).

I thought I would tap the brain trust to see what crawled out! Someone knows something that I don't!
Thanks!

Hi Bill,
My hose was in a box when I bought my car, its shape is a bit squashed and I've never seen it fitted.
However it might put you in the ball park.
Cheers, Mick

Mick,
That looks like it! Any Idea where I can get one?
Thanks,
Bill

Found this on Classsic Alfa, plus scroll down their page for fresh air ducting hoses.

310mm = 12.2 inches

Chris,
Right length, but wrong hose, this is the hose used on a Giulia Spider Normale, it takes 2 of the hoses. I talked to Classic this morning, they have had a correct size sample from a supplier but it wasn't produced.

I am shaking the bushes perhaps one of the suppliers will figure that these cars are worth making the proper hose for. I'm optimistic.
Thanks for looking for me!
I appreciate it!

OKP... you might have to sit on it to get it oval...https://www.okp.de/xtc2/101-Giuliett...ce::24493.html

Speaking from an increasingly unreliable memory, I think there are actually two types. IIRC, 390188, which was constructed in 1964, had a rubberized, hose with a Pirelli logo on it. 390377 which was constructed in (April?) 1965 had a black fabric cover with no logo.
https://classicalfa.com/en048-rubber...lter-trunking/ I see this on Classic Alfa, but cannot vouch for it from personal experience. Says it is for SS and 1600 Veloce.
IIRC the same engine tune was used on the TI Super, Sprint Speciale, TZ and SZ, so there should be more demand than from the 101.18 survivors.

Lou,
I hope one of the Suppliers reads this. I agree it needs to be made and made the right length. Your numbers agree with my Parts books.``

I have the Classic Alfa Hose on my desk, it fits my Giulia Super just fine, but is 4" too long for the Giulia Spider Veloce. I also have the Round hose Uncle Ric Recommended it is 5 " too long. This is a 35 year frustration for me, I have restored 11 Giulia Spider Veloces (owned another 6), over the years, I have never found an acceptable hose - always a compromise. I have to be missing something.

This car deserves a hose that fits!

Thanks again for looking and remembering!

You've been hosed!!! Picky ..picky.. If the car was a race car , throw away the induction system.

I was just thinking, that the total width of the car would be important, given the air filter housing is attached to the inner fender, so maybe they are NOT all the same. Now I am curious if Alfa assigned different part numbers, or did they "scrunch" up or stretch out one part as required? I'm showing "101.21.08.101.01, HOSE, intake duct to filter", but no dimensions. I have to believe the Duetto hose would be very close, but where do you find a Duetto hose?
I dug out the two ratty examples I have and the centerline is about 2" longer than the original. Maybe the remanfacturers suffer from bridge engineer syndrome and figure just a little longer is better than a bit too short and each "generation" grows by an inch or so. Wish I could be of more help.

Lou,
That's the problem all right, "One size fits all" has taken root in the Alfa Reproduction biz. The ones built for the 105 don't really fit as well as they should either.
Thanks again,
Bill

have no experience dealing with them but hear AFRA seem to have parts no one else does. might be worth a try.
