Axle half shaft speedi-sleeve?

So my half shaft has some damage where the seal rides that's causing it to leak. Anybody have any success using a speedi-sleeve for this application? I figure if they make them in that size I should be able to just get it down on top of the retaining ring, covering the damage.

Alternatively, any other fix, or is it best to just source a new axle?

Tom-

Were you able to figure this out by inspecting the axle shaft or did you put it all back together and find out it still leaked?

I'm going to be putting mine back together this week and wondering if I should be looking for something on the axle shaft before I do.

Well, I munged it up getting the ring off, so it was pretty obvious. If you were less ham-handed than me you’re probably fine.

Yeah those rings are tough. Only thing that saved me from the same was learning from you doing it before me.
