ZF gearbox in 105 chassis

https://racemarket.net/rally/rally-p...lfa-romeo-i740

I seen some youtube footage where the car seems to have this or another brand box same with dogleg firstgear location.

Box is adapted for 105 chassis/engine. Ratios are close ratio with 5 instead of 4th gear direct. So changing the final drive may be in order. Anyone experience with this ratios?
Box itself I know, had ZF in my Alfa Sei, Maserati Biturbo, and is fitted in Fiat 130 manual caers, Dino and some more. Nice boxes, strong too.

Garage
Are you interested in this for street or race?

If for street, I don't see the back up light switch.

no for racing only. ZF has more posible gears, also close to orininal Alfa ratios. Are strong boxes. Money about the same as OS Giken gears. No problems with regulations too in this case.

Alfar7 has a ZF box in his "improved spider".

ZF transmissions

The prototype Montreals had a common Alfa 105 trans that proved inadequate for the V8`s torque. Subsequently they used a ZF for durability.
The one in my "Coupe" is sourced from a Maserati and the gear ratios are similar but closer ratio to the Alfa 105 but the 5th gear is a .86 or .88 (can`t remember for sure but too low with a 4.10 R&P).
The shifter assembly is quite long on both the Monty version and Maserati trans, but I shortened the one in the "coupe" as the V8 was moved rearward about 4 inches from it`s position in the Montreal for weight balance. The Trans originally came with a U-joint output flange that is the same as the Alfa u-joint design which lends conversion to a 1 piece driveshaft conversion easily.

There are many ZF boxes in German built cars which can be used in Alfa conversions. There are pics of my modified ZF in my build thread: Spider improvement Effort.
