For the record:
LSD Diff oil contains suphur & Phosphrous
EP Oils contain Arsenic
Engine oils contain none of the above.
Consult your tribologist !
Diff Oil Castrol LS90 or equivalent
Gearbox Any EP90

crash is right, Mobil one engine oil is way way too thin for use in a gearbox. Any engine oil for that matter is too thin and cannot cope with the loads between the teeth of the gears and else where in a gearbox

Yup EP Oil additives contaminate the open grain surface of the steel to prevent pressure welding on the teeth which pulls small lumps out.
LSD's require a grip but slip additive.
Engine oils require antioxidants detergents PTFE etc etc

Shhh! Don't tell any of my Alfa gearboxes that. Been using 50 weight engine oil (sometimes 40 weight) for 30 years.
A look at this chart shows that 50 weight engine oil is about the same viscosity as 90 weight gear oil.

Hi Jim the viscosity is right but it lacks the EP additives. By the way I really rate your contributions to this site. Craigs list, yourself & Akitaman are top notch.

You have found one of the shift fork bolts and lock tabs.
trans is stuck in gear (4th) and when you shift to another gear this puts trans into 2 gears at once and it locks up.
to fix this remove trans, disassemble, replace all the shift fork bolts and loctite them when reassembling. watch out for the interlock pins if you remove shift rods

Thanks Pete. She's already back together, ran great till the crankshaft pulley fell apart, waiting to enjoy my summer rides till I can replace that as well.
