Agreed, what I mean is running a properly mapped system without VVT, the TS cams are actually pretty sporty, and could be mapped with 'static' timing that is somewhere between the stock VVT 'idle' and 'full advance' timing positions and be made to idle well, but would not work nearly as efficiently as the VVT setup and since Megasquirt is quite capable of running it, why not use the VVT

VVT is a MUST in N/A engines. In the 75 twin spark, it gives you plenty of power even below 2000 rpm and partial load... I did test the car with and without VVT...
Now if you go turbocharging, ok you could disable it, but if you use it it could decrease the turbo lag...

Agreed, you could make it work without VVT, but it's a great big step backwards in terms of power and tractability across the rev range. Anyways, I'm not getting rid of mine so it's a moot point, but for the original guy who posted the question... make your MS run the VVT!
