Setting static timing on a Marelli Plex?

Hey gang,

I'm trying to get a 2L SPICA engine started that has been sitting for over a year.

The gas is probably not great, but I can get it to pop a few times, but it won't stay running.

I know from previous experience the Marelli Plex has a goofy curve that's realy short, so to get maximum advance sometimes you have to live with a high idel or hard starting.

I'd just like to get the static timing set and see if that helps starting, but I can't find the procedure.

Anybody here know where it is?

Thanks!
Ian

When I ran Marelliplex (with modified advance curves) I eyeballed the rotor with the pickup at TDC so that the motor would run. Then I set the max advance and forgot about the static. I doubt that it is possible to set the static timing accurately.

I just need it close enough to run. I will try eyeballing it.
Thanks!

Got it running, now trying to dial it in to run smoothly at low RPM.
