Setting Up a VVT

Can anybody explain how to set up the VVT in my 1988 Spider? I have been reading the manual, but don't have the necessary tool they refer to in the manual, a "C2023". How do I know if it is set up correctly, I need to do as much work on my own to avoid a shop having to go through everything and costing me an arm, leg and my first born.

You don't need a special tool.

The VVT solenoid should be set just a hair off the plunger.

Loosen large nut.
Turn the solenoid until it touches the plunger.
Back off the solenoid so there is a gap you can barely see.
Tighten the nut while holding the solenoid so it doesn't move.

Are you sure both the solenoid and the VVT device are working?

Hope that helps.

Good luck.

Honey, this is the last thing I have to do, then I'm finished. It'll just be a minute.

Thanks, the manual doesn't give that type of instruction, which is exactly what I was looking for, appreciate your time.
