I'm always interested to see the various curves people have developed. Did the curve in your screenshot come pre-loaded in distributor and if so, what name can we give to that curve? Thanks, John

This curve was actually not developed by me. It is a starting point that I used from a post by Alfajay in another post. It's a post in the general section and since I already purchased the unit, I wanted to shift over to this post in engine management. Tom Sahines provided this starting point and I put it in, but added some points to make it more of a curve and not a piecewise linear curve. Here is what was said:

Quote:
A good starting point would be

RPM LIMIT 6500 (or less if you are concerned about over revving your motor)

point 1 500 rpm 6 degrees

point 2 1000 - 6

point 3 2000 - 20

point 4 4500 - 38

point 5 8000 - 38 (dont worry this can never happen as the rev limiter
will be your actual maximum)
I was also referring to the vacuum curve on that post so I wasn't issuing my version of the advance curve yet. I hope no one is taking that advance curve as a viable curve. Maybe I should have just clipped the vacuum curve for the discussion. Sorry to confuse anyone.

I've been installing the distributor and working on it all day. It is giving me quite some pain. First, the light could would not light up. I had to change the position of the mounting bracket like 10 times. I finally got it to light up (engine in static timing position F mark), and the idle advance is 16 deg. My curve is 0 at idle. I'm thoroughly exhausted with pulling the thing in and out. I have not road tested it, but it doesn't seem to rev up all that fast. I'm going to rest a while and go back out and see what I can figure out.

Did you ground the blue wire. See post 105 of http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/engi...ad-test-7.html

Yes blue wire grounded. I'll post to that thread to keep cross posting minimum. That one seems more like a troubleshooting thread.
