Question diagnostics

Hello all, sorry to be a pain have been having a preformance problem with my 2.0 t/s gtv registered 1998 model on a T plate. When accelerating i seem to hit a blank spot momenteraly which just reduces any revs but then kicks back in, usually around 3.5/4000 revs, to cut a long story short i had the plugs, leads and air filter changed then had it put on a diagnostics the end result told me....Lumbada probe" which then reset itself and functioned fine" and the main one "FRA" autoadapt. parameters? the guy with the diagnostics was not sure what "fra" ment and suggested speaking to someone online.... sorry if this is a bit long winded but the more i love my gtv the more annoyed i am getting at the fact it does not preform. hope someone can help.Cheers

It's the 'mass air flow' meter. And it's a common problem.

Its the first box after the air filter.

Good luck.

Sounds like a problem I just cleared on my '91 164. If you have a Motronic system, like I do, then make absolutely sure the system ground is good, try a jumper wire between the system ground - on the intake plenum on the 164s - and connect it to a bolt on the block if you can. I changed a lot of parts before I found it. May be your problem too.....Dennis Martin
