Why does 'everyone' ditch Motronic on TS? sourcing TS?
Having owned and loved several Motronic 1.1, 1.3 cars (911 3.2, E30 325i) I really adore the simplicity, reliability and even tunability of the system. Considering where other mfgrs were with Motronic at the time, I am also impressed with the TS' variable intake cam and would absolutely hate to loose that feature, or to have to spend much time and money tuning it myself on a standalone ECU. Hence, wondering why its so popular to ditch Motronic TS conversions? Is it because many builds in search of ~180+HP exceed the practical fuel delivery capabilities? Or wild cams difficult to integrate with variator? Or are you all going for the look/feel/sound of ITB/carbs and lack of distributor?
While I have a fresh and lovely SPICA 2 liter in my car I do like to let potential projects steep in the back of the mind. Also curious where fellow US Residents go looking for their twin sparks?
