CAROC Open Track Day, Joliet, IL

Chicago Alfa Romeo Owners Club invite you to the inaugural Autobahn Spring
track event in Joliet, IL.

Please see www.autobahncountryclub.net for track details. We will be
running the North track.

There will be no timed runs. The entire weekend is open track lapping!!

In the next week, an entry form will be posted to the CAROC Web site
(www.caroc.com).

We pride ourselves on running a fun and safe event. We need to limit the
number of entrants for this event to maintain a safe environment and
adequate track time for all. The event will be capped at 70 cars.
Because of the proximity of the track to Chicago and the Midwestern Council
events, we expect the event to sell out quickly. For this reason, we would
like to offer entry to AROC members for the weekend price of $350.

We get tired of seeing Porsches and Corvettes. We want Alfas!!!

Touring is available for $50/day. There will be 2 45-minute touring
sessions per day during lunch. Touring groups sizes will be managed so you
are guaranteed at least 1 touring session or both if space allows.

As always, touring is free to volunteers working the event. Please email
me directly if you're interested in working a corner or grid. Please
include which day(s) you are available and what you would like to do. We
have a need for corner workers, grid personnel (experience preferred), track
control (experienced required), tech inspection (experience required), and
registration desk.

Food:

We will have an informal gathering on Saturday night at the burger and beer
pub next to Autobahn on IL-53. Directions and information will be
available at the track.

Why is the schedule so tight?

Isn't it frustrating to pay $350 to watch other people go around? We want
you to get your money's worth!! The schedule permits at least 2hrs of track
time per-day for each participant. Traditionally, people and cars are
tired at the end of the day. There are a few diehards (yours truly!) that
still want to run. The open groups are for you. Those that still have gas
in the tank (literally and figuratively). We will try to get comparable
cars out on track in the open groups, though I expect them to be on small
side. Please be prompt when being called to false grid. Groups will go
out on time. It's your session time to manage.

Please email me directly with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you at Autobahn Country Club in April.

Bump.

By the way, registration is now open for non-CAROC members. Come one, come all!

About a half-dozen Alfas so far. The Vette entries are coming in. I'd love it to be half Alfa but that's not realistic.

The reality is we have to rely on the Vettes so we can fill the event to afford taking our Alfas out.

2 more Alfa entries in the last couple of days. Looks like this event is inspiring some clubbies to hit the track!!

Still looking for St.Louis, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan Alfa club entries. It's really central so come on out and bring your Alfa!!

Peter, you should have gotten my entry by now. I don't know if I'm bringing the race car or the street car. But I'm looking to have fun either way. Hmmmm.....maybe I'll bring both!

I have to concur. Nice job Peter! The weather was much better today than Saturday. If I counted correctly, we had (9) 1750/2000 GTV's lined up for pictures this afternoon! And all of them were being driven with gusto around the Autobahn course.

Thanks to everyone who came. Despite the weather the event was a great success. No incidents. Plenty of track time for everyone. A few mechanical casualties, including 1 Alfa.

I snatched this picture off one of the Ferrari boards taken by an FOC member who came to tour.

Thank you again to all the participants and especially the loyal volunteers from Chicago AROC who tirelessly work these events and make it all possible!
