67 Duetto 663438 Restoration

I'll start with some pictures of my Duetto from back in 1979 when I had just bought it.

It wasn't in perfect condition even back then. It had spent its first 12 years in southern California.
During which time it had been damaged in the front (and not repaired too well).
It had a replacement hood from a later year spider and some really shoddy repair work to the driver's side front fender.
With a little bit of peeling paint on the nose, it was an affordable Alfa for a college student (me) and a great daily driver.

The hazards of driving during winter months in Kansas caught up to me and I hit a patch of ice and slid it into a curb.

These pictures were probably taken in about 1985 before the car went into a storage unit.

The Duetto sat in storage until about 1994 when I loaded it up and brought it to Washington state.

With the car now with me (and fully disassembled), the extent of the damage became fully apparent.

Although it might not stand out in these photos, there are several tears in the sheet metal, some horrible repair welds, kinked sheetmetal, and a few factory welds that are popped apart.

I located another Duetto that suffered terrible rust across its body. But, the engine compartment sheet metal had survived (presumably from the heavy coating of oil leaked from the engine).

I salvaged that sheet metal.

The only other areas of concern were rust on the forward floorboards and the rear shelf behind the seats.
