NO MORE MOCK-UPS! While my wife and I were away in Yosemite for a few days the shop painted the car 501 Alfa Red and a few days later added the agreed (yet unnamed) shade of green to the nose. We had played around with the lines the green would take and I think we nailed it. Much thanks to Santo and Anthony Rimicci for their input!

The engine bay looks awesome. I am really looking forward to seeing the new 2L in its place.

The doors, engine lid and trunk lid were sprayed today, but are still in the paint booth.

The next steps are color sanding and application of the clear coat.

Thanks Bob, The green is actually more vibrant than the color shown in the internet photos. The red is pretty much spot on.
How's your Dad doing? I hope he heals well. We'll miss him at L/S...I like to follow him as long as I can...usually less than a lap.
I'll be driving my son Mike's black GTV. I'm pretty rusty (not the car) so I'll be using my mirrors a lot.
Andy

He's doing well, as well as can be expected. He's in rehab with a broken hip, fell off his bicycle. Should be coming home this week. He's looking forward to driving at California Speedway in December.

I'll be at Laguna Seca with you. I'm the only Russell attending this event. I'll be driving my black 240z It'll be good to see you there Andy. I take it Mike's not going to be there?

No Mike will be there in a '04 Infinity G35.

I'll have to swing by the body shop this week to see the car. It is just a few miles from me, and around the corner from Santo's Italian Car place.

Nice! With that 2.0 liter, you'll be able to stay with my 240z. Competition is always a fun time.

Bob, if I could stay with you in the 2L I'd be really jazzed. I'm going to be rusty as it's been a while...give me 3 or 4 events.

Between the last episode and this installment of GTV pics Anne and I spent some time away.

When we got back the paint had been clear coated. Yesterday the guys were prepping it for transfer up to the shop. From there the car will go to a nearby upholstery man who is going to install a new headliner and custom carpeting, probably dark gray. We had already ordered new door cards.

BTW...the green shows truer in these indoor shots than it did earlier outdoors.

For Sale - Cheap

I'm not sure if this is related.
I was told this pic is from Craigslist with the caption:
"For Sale - Cheap
My dad wasted my inheritance on this crummy foreign car and a new garage floor.
Best offer takes it.

Wow! A doppelganger of my car. And cheap too. So I went on Craigslist and bought it. Now I've got two.

Andy, you're starting to think the way I think. The reason I have two Alfas is so I can drive my Alfa while my Alfa is in the shop. If I had a third, I'd constantly have an Alfa in the shop.

Paul (sidewaysalfa) could be an on-the-fly stand up comic, something he proves at every drivers and awards meeting. So the Craigslist jest was much appreciated.

I got a call from Santo and Anthony yesterday that the new dash had come in from Italy, so I went down to grab it as well as the old dash today. While there I took some shots of the engine bay. New brake lines and rubber bits, as well as other hardware cleaned up and painted. I think I will opt for new brake and clutch reservoirs.

So the 1st photo is to remind how things looked before the project grew legs. Crappy black and some sort of red in the bay. Porsche Guard Red on the body...the two reds were "close" but you can see how orange Gaurd Red can appear.

And then here's three shots just ahead of putting the engine in. Alfa 501 Red.

I also picked up the new door cards. A few years back I had trimmed some sheet metal in the lower inside front corners of the doors to allow fitment of speakers, so I'll use the old door cards as templates to create an accurate opening in the new ones.

The new headliner is going in sometime next week. After that comes glass and trim...getting close.
