What Other Tracks Would You Go To?

I suppose this question has been asked before. It's a new year with new viewpoints and possibly new tracks to go to. The question is two-fold actually.

What other tracks are there to go to besides our two favorites, Willow Springs and Buttonwillow?

And, of these other tracks, which would you like to go to?

Would enough cars & drivers (that's you) want to go to another track such as Thunderhill or Chuckwalla to make it a feasable club event?

Also, if you've been to other tracks, what was you impression? What was your experience there? Would you want to go back?

Post your responses and I will catalog the responses. Maybe we can get some new asphalt under our tires.

List of tracks w/URL (this will grow as more get posted)

Bob--You forgot California Speedway:

Auto Club Speedway - Auto Club Speedway

Also I think there's one near Phoenix.

Most if not all of these would be financial disasters for AROSC to run alone. Our best bet is to find another club or clubs to run with and spread the risk.

I added two more tracks to the OP (original post).

Doug, I found three tracks near Phoenix.

I can't open the web site to this one. I can view the intro, then it just says, "nope".
Arizona Motorsports Park

I don't see where this web offers to rent the track to small clubs. I did send them an email asking about track rental.
Phoenix International Raceway

I have found this track that looks promising.
Firebird International Raceway near Chandler, AZ. Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix.

I added these two tracks as well. I can't open the web site for AMP. I've used two different browsers. If anybody can open it and read it, please let me know some of the particulars.

Just a couple quick notes:

Holtville has been closed for years. Even when it was open, it was just a section of abandoned, potholed concrete runway without much in the way of a facility.

Arizona Motorsports Park is closed. It seems the track produces too much noise for the locals in spite of being at the end of the Luke AFB runway.

Reno-Fernely might be worth including on the "wish list". It's about the same distance from LA as Thunderhill and, from what I've heard, it's open again.

Modified the OP again.

Reno-Fernley Raceway near Fernely, NV (Reno).

Reno-Fernley is a clay oval. I did not include it along with a few other "dirt" tracks.

I did receive a response from Phoenix Raceway. I'm not going to call them unless we get enough response to warrant the efforts.

Thunderhill has covered car parks, there is a lot of grassy runoff area, the track is wide, and the weather should be milder than in Arizona. If it's the same distance to Phoenix, I would definitely go for Thunderhill. Also, NCracing has a few Thunderhill events every year so we could potentially team up with them. ARA can also participate.

There is a dirt oval there but there is also a road course there. Check it out at Reno-Fernley Raceway - Trackpedia, then click on "Track Map". Perhaps they aren't using the road course these days but it sure looks like fun.

It seems that Reno-Fernely closed in 2009. Trackpedia seems to be out of date. They list a few other tracks as open that seem to be closed.

It does look like a fun track and was able to host three events on the same day.

PIR is run regularly by SCCA so I think they are used to reasonably small amateur groups.

After studying their website, it is a go-kart track. On Tuesday nights, for $20 anybody can drive any car on the track in a "time trial" or "auto cross" fashion to compare lap times later.
They brag that their straight-away is 700 feet long. That might be long in go-kart terms, but short compared to Willow Springs (big track). But still, it could be fun.

I'm going to collect (slowly) some footage of the different tracks. I'm starting with what we are already familiar with, Willow Springs. I will add the links to the OP as well so they will be somewhat organized. I can't believe how many clips I had to watch until I found one worthy of being used as vicarious advertisement.

This first clip is rather long, about 15 minutes, but truly a fun one that shows off the track and the fun of racing. The in-car cam is mounted to a Datsun 510. Sorry guys, I tried to find some Alfa action, but ... Maybe the next track will have some good Alfa clips.

I decided part two needed to be here as well.
