AROSC DE, TT & Race, May 14-15, 2011, Buttonwillow

We have confirmed Buttonwillow for May 14 & 15. We will run our new TT groups, Race & Intro at this event. We are also thinking about doing the "almost annual" enduro at this event. The temperatures should be nice in May, so mark your calendars and save the date!

More info to follow...

Wonder what track configuration we should run? How about CCW with the Bus Stop?

Terry

We have a tradition of not running CCW at Buttonwillow ever since we lost three cars into the wall on one weekend and I think it's a tradition we should continue. (Although going into the S's was rather fun that way).

Although I've seen almost just as many cars go off running CW, CCW has destroyed far more cars.

How about CW 1 or 25? There is even another turn 2 just after the original one we could use instead as well. They don't seem to have a track map with that one yet.

I'm a fan of the bustop and the Sweeper clockwise. Sweeper is a great place to learn to late brake another car yet have lots of runoff kinda like ACS entry into the infield... If you are really smoking you can just go straight.

That is not it Terry. Sorry to cause problems.

I did some digging and the link to the discounted motel 6 is on the lower left of the AROSC.ORG home page.

Sorry!

From Sheila Kutkus's input to me:
The club has arranged a special rate at the Motel 6 Central (formerly the Red Roof Inn), 20645 Tracy Ave, (661) 764-5121. Tell them you’re with the Alfa Romeo Club, and code: 453330, to get the Club room rate of $45.99, Single or Doubles. Reserve before May 6. After May 6, the rooms are no longer held for club members. Coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave in all rooms.

Configuration #1 looks good, but is there still potential to go CCW for one of the two days?

We don't switch configurations from day to day. Mainly due to points races & TT laps on Sunday. If people practice on Saturday on a given configuration, it is not fair to them to switch the track when the runs are for club points.

I have run 13 CCW and I liked it, but I got too many voted for CW.

I just signed up for the May 14-15 event at Buttonwillow using the club's new online registration link to MotorsportReg.com. One real nice feature is seeing who has entered electronically. It shows a lot of info regarding each entry. Could it also show each car's Alfa/non-Alfa class? Will it also show entries sent by snail mail later?

Hi Andy:

We are still learning how to use MotorsportReg.com, so we may be able to have it show more things to entrants. We can manually put in the snail mail stuff, but it takes time. I would expect that this event will be the last time we offer the snail mail option.

Got back late last night after a fantastic weekend, as usual, with the club.

Terry - thanks for all the hard work behind the scenes. The AROSC puts on a first class event with just volunteers! I'm sure the club members / participants are highly appreciative of your efforts.

We had a great time out on track and in the paddock. I'll post some pictures from our point-n-shoot in this thread.
