I was at the Lawrence Airport recently, and noticed that they have space near some hangers which appear ideal for an autocross course. Any suggestions on how to go about contacting someone about the use of this area for a day? Anyone with contacts at Lawrence Airport?

Hi Frank,

If you could, call the main office, and ask for facilities. You might get bounced around a little bit, but hopefully you'll end up in a place that makes sense.

Not sure yet. Had some 'complications' at Nashoba, we're looking for an August date, could possibly use Nashoba again but we're also looking for alternatives.

Suggestions welcome!

I was at a Dodge dealer test drive event in Weymouth NAS a few years ago. Lllloottssaaa open runway space, perfect area.

Next to Pease AFB in Portsmouth NH there is a massive parking lot used for car shows and pre-deployment staging. I got permission to hold an Alfa meet there in late August. I get home the 12th so hopefully by the end of the month we will have a date confirmed.

Are you offering up the Portsmouth site for an AONE autocross? If so, let's talk!

Weymouth would be good too, Simon, have you made any calls? If not, lemme know, I will.

Thanks all!

Weymouth

Hi Brian

I haven't called anybody and I'm out of town at the moment. Not sure who to call.

Weymouth would be a better site (nice mile-long straitaways), but there always seems to be State Trooper high speed training or a dealer test/drive day there.

The Pease site is about 120 seconds from the I-95/Rt.1/Rt.16 Portsmouth traffic circle, super easy to get to. If you type in "170 Arboretum Dr, Portsmouth, Rockingham, New Hampshire 03801, United States" on google maps you will see the huge vacant parking lot I'm talking about. Other cars in the parking lot across the street and giant fuel tanks should give a sense of scale.

I'm deployed till August 14th-ish but i should have a date reserved by the end of the month. So far the 15/16 all day are both good, there is a MASSIVE airshow on the 17/18/19th, we don't plan on using the lot but probably easier to stay clear of the madness. The 24th/25th and 1st/2nd are both open weekends.
Let me know which or if both are good and i will take care of the paperwork here when i get home.

I don't think we could do an Autocross in the middle of the week, so Saturday the 25th would probably be good. Are we sure enough about those dates that we could publish them in the newsletter (deadline end of this week)?

Also, what is the cost for the venue?

Thanks very much!

Sorry BS the work computers block all BBs and forums so its hard to find one that is off the goverment network. I will be home the 12th and will know if about the 25th shortly after. I will try to get someone together for the middle of next month maybe? Would one weekend be better than the rest?

That's ok, we're trying for another Nashoba date this month (fingers crossed, hopefully some news real soon), so we could shoot for the middle of next month. I'll check the Jaguar date at Nashoba, it would be best if we didn't land on top of that one.

Thanks,

bs
