76 alfetta gt - getting ready for some track time

Having fun refurbishing this 76 alfetta gt for some track time, hill climbs and maybe a few road rallies. Last ran on the track in 1991, SCCA ITB prepped. I'll just run it in the SCCA TT Thunderhill, but don't know what group they'll put me in but I really don't care. Stock 20.L, 5 speed, with auto delta torsion bars and lowered springs in back. Shown are the rota wheels and tires I use to tune it up and down the interstate east of Reno. Have another set of track tires and wheels. Should be fun sorting it out.

I know it's a track car, but man I love those early door panels. Have fun!

Shortening the tail pipe will halve the weight of the car , or is the plan to puncture the radiators of the closing competition

Looking good!

Agreed. And they weigh a ton! Two reasons to rip them out of a race car and sell them to someone restoring one for the road

Let me know if you do, I just bought an 84 GTV6 and I thought those door panels would look amazing in it.

Car will see some street time too for road rallies. Door panels give it a semblance of “finish”?
And yes, the “stinger” exhaust will be modifies with a new Flowmaster 10 muffler and downturn pipe. Back in 1991, car was always flagged as approaching noise limits at Laguna Seca and Sonoma.

It looks great! Have a blast in it.

What, if anything, have you done to 'finish' the bumper-less rear? I took the US bumpers off mine to gain 0.5sec of lap time, and I want to fabricate some kind of aluminum skirt to make it look a little more finished.. Not much motivation though, when I'm not the one looking at it.

Bob's Alfa Panels in the UK sells a rear valence that fits quite well. I have one on my GTV6 which is in a cars for sale thread https://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/alf...ml#post8403760

Laguna Seca Nov 23-24 Alfas on the track

The weekend of Nov 23-24, the weekend before Thanksgiving, we in the So Cal Chapter have Laguna Seca rented.
So if you are tired of driving with bunches of non-Alfas this weekend may be what you want. We have an Alfa Romeo only run group, which means you are on the track with Alfisti who respect each other.
You may have seen our write up on our Oct 2018 event in the Alfa Owner a few months back.

You know the rule: "If you don't post pics then you were never there!"

Correction to 91SpiderNV post above: He ment Willow Springs not Buttonwillow. A bit of a drive from up north, but hey you get to stay 2 nights in Lancaster Calif!!

I really don’t plan to keep it a dedicated track car since then it’s relegated to a few days a year (maybe 6 track days) of track time. I’m making it more road worthy. I have to find the speedo cable in the box of parts or just order one from OKP in the meantime I have friends who are willing to pace me on the highway for speed. Might do the silver state classic this September. Have to average about 95mph over the 90 mile stretch.
