1979 Spider

Hello, I really need some help. My late husband owned this car and I can't drive stick so today when someone came round to test drive the car they informed me that the car pops out of 2nd gear when you put it in 2nd gear. All other gears are okay. Any suggestions on how I get this fixed or what the problem could be etc.

Any help you could provide would be great.

Gear issue

It is a common issue when the 2 rubber bellows are binding and pushing the gear shift lever out of position.
Generally due to a collapsed transmission mount

That mount can be replaced without much effort. The trans mount cross member can be removed and the actual rubber mount can be driven out and a new one installed easily.

The mount itself is about $50.00-$60.00 and replacement isn`t that costly in a reputable shop.

Where are you located? Someone can suggest a decent honest mechanic.
