I was having the same screen look from my home PC. Unfortunately, that computer bit the dust the other day, so I cannot say whether the problem persists. No problem from my home Mac or work PC, however.

It was all so simple before, I wished all other forums were laid out like the AlfaBB. Thanks for leaving the Legacy version at least.

Legacy view

It looks like they fixed something that was not broken. I agree that the solution for me has been to switch to the legacy version. Works fine in that mode.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already or not.

Looking at a post with more than one photo while using the Legacy version, one photo is visible but I only see a portion of the second. If I switch to the new version, both photos are visible.

I'm not experiencing that problem Eric. What browser are you using?

I'm a "legacy" AlfaBB user from way back who accesses the forums with a Lenovo Thinkpad that has 4 gigs of ram and works fine everywhere else. AlfaBB, however, is a different story. In the new default skin, AlfaBB is unusable. It can take minutes to load a page, and then scrolling is agonizingly slow. Switching back to the legacy skin helps, but loading some of the ads still takes a while.

I should also mention that I'm using Norton for security.

Has anyone got suggestions on how to change computer or security settings to speed things up or is this how life on the BB is going to be from now on?

Maybe Norton is your problem. The new skin still works fine on my Mac and loads quite fast.

That occurred to me, too. But ... in order to find the answer to this conundrm, I'd need to be brave enough to turn off my security software and browse this now very commercial site.

Anyone else run into the same issue? If so, have you found a cure? For me, it's to use the legacy skin.

Gary,

While I'm using a PC, I do use Norton, and went back to Legacy. I hate the new website design. I don't have any of the problems that you're describing with ads; I don't see any, but I do use ADP, which is also available for MACs.

One thing that might be relevant is that I am a gold subscriber and don't get any ads, whereas some of you are registered users only. It could be the ads causing your issues. I figure $20 per year is not much to pay to get rid of them and have access to this still wonderful site. I started paying back in the days when Simon ran it and have continued ever since. It has returned vastly more value to me over the years than the small subscription fee adds up to. Also, being a Mac user I don't need anti virus software thank goodness.

I liked the new layout and at first it worked great. But not now.

Does anyone know whether sending this company some money for a platinum sub would help things?

That's what I suggested above. It might be a factor.

Thank you for the responses. Cheryl, I'm not sure what ADP is when we're not talking about payroll services. Did you mean to write that you do not use Norton, or you use it with other security software?

Gary,

I do use Norton, but I messed up the abbreviation. I must have been thinking about getting paid tomorrow -- I'm used to passing the ADP building regularly in my area.

The abbreviation should be: ABP (Ad Block Plus). I see no ads at all. It's a free download for either PC or MAC. Using Legacy, I have no difference in performance or load time.
