Rear Main Seal Retainer

I'm looking for the stamped metal piece that holds in the rear main seal on the back of a 2.0L block.

Theres the stamped metal piece that looks like a half moon that goes above the rear main seal to seal the oil return chamber. But there is no retainer that holds the rear main seal in.

But that stamped piece can have its lip cut so that 2 tabs can be bent down to retain the seal.

Ciao

Use the brown corteco seals and it won't pop out. Use the orange Akron seals and it will pop out. Guaranteed.

He’s missing the stamped rear cover. I don’t have one for him. Anybody got one in the “scrap block” pile for mike?

Unless you have excessive crankcase pressure, this seal should not move. Leaky rings and blow by is number 1 culprit. Fix the rings.
