On my last engine build I found a NOS block and gave it with a timing cover to the engine builder
Comments from engine builder
"Regarding problems in fitting parts together, the first one was that the new block did not have a matching front cover. That supplied was not correctly lined up, being short top and bottom by about 5 thou and the timing gear bosses were about 1mm out of line. This required some clever machining to the boss in the block and an offset bush, plus milling the top face to match which resulted in having to machine the top face of six liners to produce the required 2.5 thou of protrusion. The next problem was that the front cover was Mk2 with no oil pressure relief valve and the new old stock pump was Mk1 without one either. Fortunately I spotted this and a Mk2 pump was found and the best bits of two made into one. "
This gentlemen is a real engine builder who has worked on alfa engines for over 30 years . I i had just assembled it as supplied it would not have run for long
Hi Redmerlin,
sorry it took so long to answer, but do you have them still for sale? Should come to Holland near Amsterdam.

Ok will send an email . with photos . should be relatively light to post . these are NOS items and will need line boring when fitted to the head. All caps are exactly matched to the cylinder head on all alfa engines of this period
